Privacy Policy

Overview

Pippa is made by Hearthril, Inc., a Delawarecorporation ("Pippa," "we," "us," or "our"). Pippa turns stories into animated videos and printed books. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who helps us handle it, and how you stay in control of it. It covers the Pippa app at app.gopippa.ai, our website at gopippa.ai, and the Pippa apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android.

The Short Version

You own everything you make. We use your content only to make your videos and books.
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not train AI models on your content, and we do not give it to anyone for training.
We never use your content in our marketing without your written permission.
You can delete any project, or your whole account, whenever you like.

Information We Collect

Your account

Your name (optional) and email address
Your password, stored scrambled so that nobody, including us, can read it (a one-way hash). If you sign in with Google, Apple, Microsoft, or Facebook, we receive your name and email from them instead.
Your answer to whether you are 18 or older, and when you gave it

What you create

Stories you type, paste, upload, or record
Photos, drawings, videos, and voice recordings you upload
Characters, places, and custom voices you save
The images, videos, music, and audio Pippa makes for you
Your project settings and edits

Payments

Card payments on the web are handled by Stripe. We keep your plan, your card brand, and the last four digits so we can show them to you; we never see or store your full card number. Purchases inside the iPhone or Android app are handled by Apple or Google, and we receive only a record of what you bought. If you order a printed book, we collect the shipping address for that order.

How you use Pippa

We record things like which pages you visit, which features you use, what you make and what it cost in Pippa Coins, along with basic device and browser details and your IP address. We use this to run the service, fix problems, and improve Pippa.

What We Never Do With Your Content

We never sell it. We do not sell your personal information or your content to anyone.
We never train AI on it. We do not use your stories, photos, voices, or videos to train AI models, and we do not provide them to anyone for training.
We never put it in our marketing without asking. Your characters, stories, and videos appear in our ads, social media, or website only if you have given us your explicit written permission.
We never show it to others unless you do. Other people see your work only if you share it yourself, for example in the Explore gallery or on YouTube or social media.

Children's Privacy

Pippa is made for adults (parents, grandparents, teachers, and creators) to create content, often for children. Pippa accounts are for people 18 and older, and Pippa is not directed at children.

Age requirement

You must be at least 18 to create an account. Everyone confirms this when they sign up. Accounts opened before this change are told about it at least 14 days ahead, then asked once, the next time they sign in after that date. An account that has not answered yet is not frozen or deleted.

If someone tells us they are under 18, or we learn it, we freeze the account: it can no longer create anything new or make purchases, we stop sending it marketing emails, and we stop using its activity for advertising. We refund recent purchases as our Terms of Service describe. Thirty days later we permanently delete the account and everything in it. The 30 days exist only so a mistake can be put right: email support@gopippa.ai before then.

If we learn that a child under 13 has used Pippa, we delete the account and everything in it as soon as we have confirmed it, as children's privacy law requires.

Content that features a child

Parents and guardians often make stories starring their own children. When you upload a child's photo or voice, you confirm that you are their parent or guardian, or have permission from their parent or guardian. That content is:

Stored securely in our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2)
Used only to make the videos and books you ask for
Never shared for advertising or marketing
Never used to train AI models
Yours to delete at any time, from the app or by emailing us

Voice recordings

You can record or upload narration and voices. Recordings are sent to the companies listed below only to do the job you asked for: turning speech into text, matching lips to words, or speaking your story in a voice. If you create a custom voice, a copy of that voice is saved with our voice provider, ElevenLabs, so you can reuse it. It stays there until you delete the voice or your account, and then we delete it from ElevenLabs too. When a guest records a message for someone else's film, any voice copy made from it is deleted as soon as that film is finished.

AI Companies That Help Make Your Videos

Pippa does not draw, animate, or voice everything itself. To make what you ask for, we send the parts of your project that the job needs (story text, pictures, audio) to these companies, and only so they can do that work for us. Here is who they are, and what each one's business terms say about training AI:

OpenAI: Helps write and check story text, describes pictures, turns recorded speech into text, and reads some narration aloud. Its business terms say it does not train its models on data sent through its API.
Anthropic (Claude): Plans the scenes of your story and writes the directions for each shot. Its commercial terms say it may not train its models on its business customers' content.
Google (Gemini): Writes shot directions and checks pictures for quality. Its terms for paid use say it does not use our prompts, files, or results to improve its products.
ByteDance BytePlus (Seedance and Seedream): Animates your video clips and draws some pictures. Its terms say it does not use customer data for its own model training without the customer's permission, and we have not given it.
ElevenLabs: Reads your story aloud in the voice you choose, and creates the custom voices you make. We have switched off its use of our data for training.
fal.ai: Runs many of the drawing, animating, lip-sync, and music models we use, including models made by OpenAI, Google, Black Forest Labs, Kuaishou, MiniMax, and others. Its terms let it use our content only to run these models for us, not to train AI on it.

We check these terms when we add a company and whenever their terms change. If a company changes its terms in a way that conflicts with this policy, we will stop sending it your content or update this policy and tell you before the change applies to you.

Other Companies That Help Run Pippa

Cloudflare R2: Stores your uploads and the videos, pictures, and audio Pippa makes.
Neon: Hosts our database (your account and project details).
Vercel: Hosts the Pippa app and website, and counts visits without advertising cookies (Vercel Analytics).
Fly.io: Runs the servers that stitch your clips, narration, and music into a finished video.
Inngest: Runs the background jobs that build your videos step by step.
Upstash: Short-term storage that keeps Pippa fast and blocks abuse.
Stripe: Handles card payments on the web. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Apple, Google, and RevenueCat: Handle purchases made inside the iPhone and Android apps.
Resend: Sends our emails.
Sentry: Tells us when something breaks, with technical details about the error.
Firebase (Google): Sends notifications to your phone if you allow them.
Rewardful: Tracks referral and partner links so the right person gets credit when a friend signs up.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram): Measures our advertising, as explained under "Cookies and Advertising."
Lulu Press: Prints and ships books you order, and receives the book file and your shipping address.
Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook sign-in: Only if you choose to sign in with one of them.

If you connect YouTube or TikTok to publish directly from Pippa, we send the video you choose to that platform, and its own privacy policy applies to it from then on.

Cookies and Advertising

We use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, to understand how Pippa is used, to credit people who refer friends to us, and to measure our advertising.

For advertising, we use the Meta (Facebook) Pixelon our website and app, and Meta's server-side Conversions API. These tell us whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead people to sign up or subscribe. We share events like page visits, sign-ups, and purchases, and a scrambled, one-way version of your email address. We never send Meta your stories, pictures, or voice recordings.

You can limit or turn off advertising tracking by:

Changing your Facebook ad settings
Using your browser's privacy settings or an ad or tracker blocker
Opting out through the Digital Advertising Alliance

We advertise mainly in the United States and other English-speaking countries. Where the law requires your consent before advertising cookies run, such as in the European Economic Area, we will ask first.

Emails

Account emails: sign-up confirmation, password resets, receipts, and updates on your own projects. Every account gets these because Pippa cannot work without them.
Marketing emails: news, tips, and new features. You get these only if you opted in, and you can unsubscribe with one click from any of them or from your account settings.

We never give your email address to other companies for their own marketing.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep your account and content for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account:

You have 30 days to change your mind
After 30 days, your account, projects, videos, uploads, voice recordings, custom voices, and characters are permanently deleted
We keep payment records for as long as the law requires

An account frozen because its holder is under 18 is deleted the same way, 30 days after the freeze.

You can also delete single projects, characters, or uploads at any time without closing your account.

Keeping Your Information Safe

Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS)
Passwords are stored scrambled (bcrypt), never as plain text
Sign-in is protected against repeated guessing
Sessions use secure cookies that other websites cannot read
Staff access to admin tools requires two-step sign-in

No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

See the personal information we hold about you
Correct anything that is wrong
Delete your information (you can do this yourself in account settings)
Get a copy of your information
Object to some kinds of processing

Events and Brand Activations

At some live events, Pippa makes films for visitors on behalf of a partner brand. Those events have their own privacy notice, shown at the event, which explains exactly what is collected and shared there.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. We will never change this policy to use content you have already made in a way this version does not allow without asking you first.
